Stila - Magnificent Metal Foil Finish Eye-Shadow review.

This is such an old product which I lusted after in 2013 but decided I couldn't justify the price tag, but on a holiday shopping trip I found this in TK-Maxx for only £3.99! In the box you get the actual foil eye shadow, a tiny bottle of liquid stay all day eye primer and a mini mixing tray. I found that you could use the eye shadow alone, without the primer, and it leaves a very subtle wash of colour of the lid instead. The texture of the shadow is also strange - it's sponge-y and almost wet to the touch with an almost 'mouldable' quality.

The idea behind these shadows is so unique but I just feel they're far too impractical for every day wear. I'm still confused about how to scoop the shadow out onto the tray without completely ruining it and every time I use it I feel like I have so much waste. The colour is SUPER intense and pigmented and you really do get a foil effect on the eye which I should be jumping with joy about as that's practically what the box promises, but it also means I'm only every going to wear this on an extremely glam night out.

This was the last box left in TK-Maxx and therefore the only colour option, I mean it's pretty but wouldn't have been my first choice. The colour name is 'Metallic Violet' and appears to only be available via the Sephora website as I can't find this shade on the official Stila one and Sephora does say that this colour is Limited Edition (is that why I could find it in TK-Maxx?). It's a highly intense purple which is absolutely stunning in the pan but just a bit too bright for me. I've recently purchased the Too Faced Peanut Butter and Jelly palette (review soon!) and I'm just dying to put this on top of the purple in that to see what effect I get. I'm want to keep checking my local TK-Maxx stores to see if I can pick up the shade Kitten (a much more subtle nude-pink-ish colour) but I don't think I'm willing to pay the full price tag for it.

The wear time for these shadows is phenomenal as they really do 'stay all day' but I honestly don't think the price tag is justifiable. I'm not entirely sure what their full price is as the Sephora website states they are $32 each (roughly £22) but the actual Stila website says they're a shocking £33.50 (!!!!!!!). I just can't imagine justifying £33 on ONE Stila eye shadow even if it was the most amazing eye shadow in the entire world. However for £4 I am absolutely ecstatic with my purchase and I'm keeping my eyes peeled for more shades. If you're tempted by these definitely check out TK-Maxx instead of buying directly from Stila's website as £4 is an absolute steal.

Have you ever tried these? What are your thoughts?
